First notebook with my dad’s old wacom tablet and Photoshop 4.0 on a stack of floppy disks. It was old already.
I’d have prefered a Playstation but this way I learned every single button and slider in photoshop and made my first experiences animating with Macromedia Director and Freehand.
During my early highscool years I had the first experiences with Maxon Cinema 4D R9. I remember adapting clay modelling techniques from art class in Cinema 4D. I made my first “fine art” renders for art class. Looking back I had a keen eye on shaders and light which started developing my first interest in surface appearance and would become topic of my bachelors thesis.
My interest in the VFX industry was sparked by the special edition LOTR DVD collection with the hours of behind the scenes footage at weta. Followed by watching all the making offs on my Pixar movie collection. The shading in Ratatuille is still awesome.
