Dive, 2017

Dive was the third big project during my bachelor’s degree at Stuttgart Media University.

It sparked my interest in procedural dynamic systems to grow geometry that resembles natural phenomena and the math behind it.
I knew grey Scott reaction-diffusion can reproduce patterns that look like corals. It was my first time writing VEX Code in Houdini and the first time I had a true vision of what personally to do with coding skills. During coral growing research I learned about differential growth.

The coral reefs were made with a rock generator in Houdini and sculpted and combined to fit the art direction.

My roles in the project were mainly: supervision, procedural modeling, lighting, shading, and rendering.
Most work was done in the following software: Maya, Vray, Houdini, Cinema 4D, Nuke

The team found together in the first semester week and involved: Alexander Breitfeld, Eduardo Chacon Pineda, Jiayan Chen, Markus Draxler, Florian Graf, Magnus Kaffenberger, Lisa Kinzel, Antony Nghiem, Viktoria Rucker, Yannic Schoof.
